A Singapore RI student’s Video on Antibiotic Resistance Wins Her US$250,000 scholarship


The Breakthrough Junior Challenge is a worldwide science competition in which students participating from different countries share their insight and depict a challenging concept in Physics, Mathematics or Life Sciences, in a 5-minute long video.

The videos are judged on engagement, illumination, difficulty and most importantly it’s originality and creativity.

Deanna See, a 17-year old student from Raffles Institution, Singapore was one of the finalists of the Breakthrough Junior Challenge 2016. Her video elucidating the theory of antibiotic resistance titled “Superbugs! And Our Race against Resistance” won her a $250,000 scholarship from the Mark-Zuckerberg-funded foundation.
