Only 2 days left to apply for Singapore’s first inter-generational leadership summit in biotechnology!

Singapore is hosting its first ever inter-generational, inter-cultural leadership summit in biotechnology, where some of the world’s leading minds will converge and discuss about the ‘gaps’ in the biotech and healthcare industry.

Yes, we are talking about the Singapore Leaders of Tomorrow (SLoT) Forum which is going to be held on October 19th, 2016  in Singapore; organized by Global Biotech Revolution and key supporting partner Biotechin.Asia.

Why should YOU apply?

The world is on the throes of a biotech revolution. Like the IT revolution that was a hallmark of the last three decades, it’s now the turn of biotech and healthcare sectors to grab the limelight. While CRISPr technology has given us hopes for a disease-free world, the advances in stem cell technology, 3D printing, nanomedicine, synthetic biology and sustainable food is a harbinger of the biotech revolution that the world is about to witness.

But like every industry, the issues that plague the biotech sector is multifarious and the Singapore Leaders of Tomorrow (SLoT) forum aims to involve young bio-leaders, leaders of tomorrow, to voice out their ideas, concerns and hopes for this industry in the presence of the various stakeholders from the ecosystem.

The event will see some of the most renowned names in Industry, Academia and Startups such as Sir Greg Winter, the pioneer in therapeutic monoclonal antibodies; Mr. Lim Chuan Poh, Chairman of A*STAR; Dr. Carl Firth, CEO of Aslan Pharma; Dr. Pauline Tay from NRF, Dr. Bernhard Boehm, Professor of Metabolic Medicine, LKC school of medicine; Dr. Rosemary Tan, CEO of Veredus Laboratories and other renowned professionals partake in panel discussions on themes such as “Asian Phenotypic Diseases – A Real Phenomenon” and “Ideation, Insights &… (your imagination)” along with the audience consisting of 50 Leaders of Tomorrow (LoTs).

Asian phenotypic diseases refers to conditions that Asians are genetically and phenotypically predisposed to and show a higher prevalence, such as lean diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, certain types of head and neck cancer, cholangiocarcinoma (liver-fluke induced cancer that is common in Thailand) among others.

The panel discussions will give these 50 carefully selected Leaders of Tomorrow (LoTs), who are based at Singapore, valuable insights on the biggest healthcare problems in Asia and also a chance to ideate with the industry bigwigs on what can be done by the young bio-leaders of tomorrow.

Voices of Tomorrow (VoT) competition

The highlight of the SLoT forum is the Voices of Tomorrow (VoT) competition where the 50 bio-leaders/LoTs will be challenged to create solutions to identified gaps in the biotech and healthcare industry.

The gaps that will be discussed are Research & Innovation Gap (e.g. a solution to fast-track commercialization of research?); Funding gap (eg. lack of funding for basic research?, a solution to make researchers accountable for the funds/grants received?); People Gap (e.g. a way to recruit bright scientific minds?); Future Health Gap (e.g. 3D bioprinting?); Public perception & Education Gap (e.g. scientific media misrepresenting facts & lack of reaching out to general public).

On October 19th 2016, the teams will present their business plans at the SLoT Forum, where prizes worth S$5000 will be awarded to three winning teams!
