Our partners, Biotech Connection Singapore (BCS) is recruiting for 3 key positions to be part of our executive committee. All these positions are on voluntary basis (non-remunerated) and require at least 1 year of commitment. They are looking for highly motivated team players with good organizational and interpersonal skills. Candidates with an interest in biotech entrepreneurship are preferred.

The values of joining their executive committee are tremendous. You will be involved in directing the growth and vision of BCS. Their goal is to create impact by facilitating a thriving bio-entrepreneurship ecosystem in Singapore through educational events, science communications and consulting. You would have excellent networking opportunities by fostering strategic partnerships with industry, academia and sponsor companies. Together with their team, you will be active in community outreach to bolster our BCS branding. Such experiences will help you develop an entrepreneurial mindset and leadership capabilities. No matter what your role is, you will be empowered with skillsets that benefit you a lifetime.

Outreach & Marketing Lead 

Eligibility and Responsibilities: 

  • Background in science & engineering, business experience preferred
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate leadership capabilities
  • Able to work and communicate effectively in a team
  • Keep abreast of latest trends in biotech innovations
  • Increase visibility of Biotech Connection Singapore within the Life Sciences eco-system in Singapore by networking and relationship-building with:
    o Singapore-based life science companies (startups, SMEs, MNCs)
    o Local tertiary and research institutions
    o Other players in the life science eco-system in Singapore (NRF, local incubators and accelerators, potential investors)
  • Take the lead in generating marketing collaterals for Biotech Connection Singapore

Events Lead 

Eligibility and Responsibilities: 

  • Background in business and/or science & engineering
  • Keep abreast with latest trends of biotech innovations and technological development
  • Event planning and content generation with relevance to Singapore’s landscape
  • Speakers engagement and sponsor outreach
  • Networking, relationship-building with advisory board, mentors and peers
  • Demonstrate team leadership and manage event logistics
  • Able to work and communicate effectively with others

Vice President 

Eligibility and Responsibilities: 

  • Background in science & engineering, business experience preferred
  • Possess strong management skills and excellent team player
  • Assist or act on behalf the President when s/he is absent
  • Drive the overdevelopment of the society including but not limited to organizing events, marketing, partnership and consulting.
  • Basic knowledges of accounting and tax is preferred
    o Able to process payments, invoices and reimbursement
    o Bookkeeping using Dropbox and Freshbooks
    o Prepare statement of account and liaison with auditors
  • Administrative assistance with Registry of Societies (ROS)

Scientist-entrepreneur-manager-journalist: -Co-founder, Author; Former Assistant Editor and Director, Biotechin.Asia, Biotech Media Pte. Ltd.; -Founder & CEO, SciGlo (www.sciglo.com); -Programme Management Officer, SBIC, A*STAR (former Research Fellow). --Sandhya graduated from University of Madras, India (B.Sc Microbiology and M.Sc Biotechnology) and received her Ph.D from the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. She worked on oxidative stress in skin, skeletal, adipose tissue and cardiac muscle for a decade from 2006-2016. She is currently working as a Programme Management Officer handling projects and grants at Singapore Bioimaging Consortium (SBIC), Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR). Earlier to this she was a Research Fellow in the Fat Metabolism and Stem Cell Group at SBIC. Sandhya was also the Vice President and Publicity Chair of A*PECSS (A*STAR Post Doc Society) (2014-2016). Recently she founded a platform for scientists - SciGlo (www.sciglo.com) and is a startup mentor at Vertical VC (Finland). She is an ardent lover of science and enjoys globe trotting and good vegetarian food.
